Background

Tilak College of Education is a premier and dynamic institution with an unrivalled reputation in pre-service training of teachers. Lokmanya Tilak, the eminent educationist and freedom fighter was the inspiring force in the establishment of Tilak College of Education. The institution was established on 20th June, 1941 and has been imparting quality teacher education over the past 82 years.

Parent Institute

Shikshana Prasaraka Mandali, Pune, our parent institution, founded in February 1888, has provided the right environment and intellectual stimulus to establish Tilak College of Education to prepare teachers with sensitive and probing minds. The institution is actively engaged in the task of teaching, research and extension.

The college was accredited by the National Accreditation and Assessment Council (NAAC) in October 2013 and was awarded the A grade.

Our Inspiration

History

The institution has made remarkable progress over the past sixty four years beginning with the introduction of M.Ed. Course in 1947.

The faculty of the college has had the honour of getting the first Doctorate in Education in the University of Pune.

Meticulous planning, prompt execution and adapting to the changing needs of society are the strengths of the college in its endeavor towards pursuit of excellence.

To pursue excellence in teacher education by opening global avenues in education and research for the overall development of competent and committed professionals to meet the challenges of 21st century.
